Re: Interaction between buildings and outside environment

Hi, 1. No, such internal gains are not included in the model. You'll have to use Building Performance Simulation (BPS) models like EnergyPlus for that. ENVI-met is about outdoor thermal comfort. 2. Yes, ENVI-met considers buildings as completely air tight. 3. Unfortunately, such a heat transfer for ...

Re: Building Temperature and Energy Balance

Hi Diana,

I just tested it and it worked absolutely fine. The variable name changed to the name that Helge wrote above when I activated to keep the building indoor temperature constant. I tested it with the recent version 4.4.6 (maybe there is discrepancy to your version?).

Re: Unrealistic output in Leonardo for Potential Air Temperature

Hi Victoria, In addition to my explanations above, you should know that your forced temperature (e.g. 38°C which is too hot for ENVI-met to be modelled based on the local solar radiation) needs to be transported into the model area. It however stays more or less at the inflow border and is not distr...

Re: Unrealistic output in Leonardo for Potential Air Temperature

Hi Viktoria, It is about your SimpleForcing. Temperature and humidity do not fit the daily cycle at all. It is super hot 8:00 but rather cold at 15:00. I think you mixed something up with the times here. These are the actual conditions for each hour of a day, not the conditions for your specific run...

Re: Impact of soil on MRT with IVS mode

Hi Julien,

Please have a look at this post where we discussed IVS in current version 4.4.6: http://www.envi-hq.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... 458988a0e2

Re: Green space with different planting structures

Hi Karen, Okay, as the major difference is between 08.00 and 12.00 and the rest seems to be fine in correlation, I would guess it is somehow related to shadowcasting of trees and thus a changed evapotranspiration of the grass below. It is however tough for you to investigate that with the conclusion...

Re: simulated MRT does not meet monitored MRT

Hi Tanya,

The AutoUpdater tells you directly at ENVI-met start as soon as there is an update (to V5) available.
Yes, the common six-directional approach is now implemented in MRT calculation.

Re: Forcing Data does not cover Sim Date and Time. Please update your Fox-file or Sim Date and Time below.

Hi Micheal,

You need to load a CSV with half-hourly intervals but your CSV has hourly intervals. Also consider to update the precipitation values as 9500 mm would be unrealistic.

Re: Green space with different planting structures

Hi Karen,

What height did you examine? Was grass within the height level that you extracted? Were the tree shapes consistent between the tree and tree+grass scenario?

Re: Log Files in case of model crash

Hi Maria, Thank you for the hint. Obviously, the log file cannot be written if the program accidentally hung up as it did not know that the error will occur. However, we will definitely consider to write the log file constantly during the simulation as you suggested. For most errors however (Floatin...

Re: Profiles: Surface and Vegetation

Hi Maria, Soil is always considered regardless of vegetation. Vegetation can only be defined in the air cells above the surface. 0000AB is a soil. Soils cannot be used in Spaces and the simulation. You'll have to create a soil profile out of this single soil material. That is why the database entry ...

Re: Import from CAD, student version

Hi Miriam,

The expert lesson is quite a few years old. We tried to implement the feature but it was not working properly unfortunately.
You might want to use Rhino/Grasshopper/Ladybug or Sketchup to create your ENVI-met model area based on CAD.

Re: Import from CAD, student version

Hi Miriam,

The import from CAD is not accessible in Monde in general. License restrictions are only for the ENVIcore.
Version can be upgraded regardless of the license type.

Re: Roof greening shifted, not able to delete

Hi Heiko,

That info line is based on general information about the building i.e. if a greening or material is applied to the whole building. If a greening is displayed for a specific facade element in 3D, it will be simulated.

Tim
