envimetBuildings component

Postby jfguzman24 » Sat Apr 27, 2019 7:32 pm

Hi,

I have defined a simple building in grashopper using Dragonfly. It asks as input wallMaterial that can be fiven through the DFReadLibrary. However, as I need to analyze the energy flux through this wall, I need the thermal conductivity (given by the selection of the material) and the thickness of the wall, which I haven't defined nor have been able to find how it is defined. Is there a default for the thickness of the wall that will be automatically assigned to this component? Or should it be defined in the Brep going into _buildings? Where can I define or control the thickess assigned to these walls?

Thank you for your help,
Kind regards,
Francisco

Hi Francisco,

ENVI_MET has a tool to manage materials, it is called "Database Manager". You should to work with WALL and MATERIALS lib in your case.
Steps to follow:
1. Create your custom WALL material with Database Manager;
2. Read User Library using Grasshopper (DF Envimet Read Library component)
3. Apply the custom material to buildings.

"Read User DB" is a new feature, you can find it in the beta version of Dragonfly enviment components. Here is the link: https://github.com/AntonelloDN/df_envimet/tree/master/plugin%20beta
I release it soon in official Dragonfly.

Regards,
Antonello
